New Orleans is America’s cultural capital, home to the country’s most creative people. We are blessed with some of the best universities in America, and our hospitals are second-to-none. We are the heart of the Louisiana economy, and a vibrant 21st century city.
But for too long, people who live and work in the City of New Orleans have not been getting their fair share.
Fair share started with Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s infrastructure victory in 2019, because this issue underpins everything. If we don’t invest in our drainage, water systems, and transportation – then our very existence here is threatened.
But this victory is a first step in a longer fair share journey.
The longer fair share journey is about undoing generations of systems designed to take resources from New Orleans, but invest them elsewhere. The longer journey is about prioritizing our residents’ daily quality of life.
By signing this pledge, I’m adding my name in public support of the Mayor’s fair share agenda. I believe it’s not too much to ask that the City of New Orleans control her own destiny.
We have an opportunity to improve people’s lives. We are here to serve the people of New Orleans. They love New Orleans, and the time has come for New Orleans to love them back.
